It’s better to have your own destiny imperfectly than to live imitation of somebody else life with perfection.—Bhagavad Gita
How many of your friends are working a job that they’re truly passionate about? The job they believe in their deep hearts that it’s what they really want of their lives?
We’re born in a society where you have certain path to follow, certain life to live to become “successful”. The most common is, study hard to get good grades at school–>attend Ivy League University–>Get a Master/PhD degree–>Find job at a big corporate with great salary and opportunity to get promoted. Then you get married, have kids, buy house and car and then you’ll become successful and live happily ever after.
Along the way, how many decisions do you think people made…out of their own wills? The decisions which they chose after carefully selecting available options & thoroughly thinking pros and cons.
What’s wrong with not making those decisions?
An Australian author Bronnie Ware wrote a top-selling book called “Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A life transformed by a dearly departing. She shared breathtaking lessons she learnt from elders closing to their deaths when she was working in palliative care.
“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”…This is the top one regret people have. The closer people are closer to death, the stronger this regret make them suffer.
Are you happy with where you’re at right now? Imagine just for a moment, what if today is the last day you have in this world? What would you be telling yourself? Can you say confidently to yourself that “yes, I’ve been living the life I want, I tried my best and I have no regrets.” ?
If it’s the case, then congratulations, you’ve been listening to your heart and taking good care of yourself by executing the thoughts you have in mind. However if there is regret popping up in your mind…then great, because now you are aware of your current circumstance. And having self-awareness is the very first step to solving the problem.
Which makes now the best time to start making change.
Number one action you should take
First and foremost, to reach your ultimate success, remember this most important mindset which majority people didn’t have(and that’s the very reason why they failed to change their lives) : You will never be ready. So don’t overthinking and simply go do.

Thinking about executing plan after finished perfecting your plan? Rewire the mindset. If you really want to succeed in achieving your dream goal, perfecting your plan by doing and adjusting along the process. I remember 6 years ago in 2013 I wanted to have my own business. “ok I’ll start after I finished such and such.”… was what I kept telling myself. Guess what, at the end of 2014, I was saying the exact same thing. Until 2018 I finally transformed myself rewiring mindset, went beyond all the excuses and just start. First step: learning new skills.
I was stuttered when my first sale happened, after one month! I realized that I’d neglected the power of small action and that cost me 6 precious years doing nothing but lying to myself. Small action is the most crucial action. You want to keep moving forward while not being overwhelmed. It’s not about how much can you do in a day, but how consistent can you take action everyday.
Most people overestimate what they can do in one year, and underestimate what they can do in ten years.—Bill Gates
How do I find out the right side hustle?
I recommend two methods because these are what I personally experienced and ones that brought me better results along my trial and error journey. The first one is what I used to sort out what skills I have. On top of that, I also consider what I want to be good at, and how can I achieve where I want to be soon. Time is super valuable and important factor for me so that leads to my second recommendation, which save me tons of time organizing flooding information on the internet.
＊The first one:
Susie Moore, a life coach and author suggests three-step formula to uncover your “skills that will pay the bills”.
#1: Think of three big problems you solved or successes you had.
#2:Identify what are the skills you have that helped you achieve those three things.
#3:Think about how you can apply the skills you came up with in a new way.
Try the three steps. It’s going to take you some time but it’s absolutely practical in helping you distillate what side hustle can you possibly start.
