Today I joined a meet-up group about AI(Artificial Intelligence). I’m interested in coding and want to find out how can I apply the skill in AI field. There are a few break time so I went up to talk with other attendees, wanting to know why are they there and what are their goals. 🎯 🎯 🎯
I love the part that everyone is very ambitious about their goals and are actually taking action so as to get themselves closer to their dream goals. The vibe in the venue is full of energy, chop chop chop type of speed. As if not making the most use of 3 minutes is the end of world. Amazing. 🙌🙌🙌
However, the concept of SUCCESS defined by many of them surprised me. 95% of them defined whether an individual is successful or not based on how much they make. I get the part that money is important in our lives. But that does not define success. So I’ll raise a challenge about this.
Money is not what makes you to succeed, is a medium that help you to reach your success. I don’t know how you can define a person’s success by how much they make. This reminded me of our school education. In school, students who got score of 59(or F) would be called “failed”. Students who didn’t finish college are not successful.(If so, how do you explain Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, etc.? But we’re going to go deep about this here)
How do you define by money, people whose salary is above 100K USD a year? So for those who didn’t have that salary are failures? I really have a hard time thinking it through.
For me, if you’re living the life you want yourself to live, you’re successful. For people who are happy and feeling fulfilled with their current lives, and they make 80K a year, that’s successful to me because you are happy. You’re happy, you’re satisfied with your life, you wake up excitedly looking forward to start your day. That’s something which money cannot bring you.
I was honored to have chance meeting people who successfully increase their income from zero to six figures. You know what, after talking with them, 99.8% of them all mentioned a common point—money didn’t bring the happiness they thought it’s going to bring them. Only if they have a true purpose with good intent will they feel fulfilled and happy. 💪 💪 💪Some examples from them are, help people find their strength and know how to apply in their lives so as to reach their goals ; help people to gain confidence, courage, and guide them to reach the life they want to live.
At the beginning of creating my online business, to be honest, income was what I wanted to gain more. I didn’t care so much about provide values for free, sincerely care about others, etc. And only focused on marketing, sales, etc.
Until one day I woke up terribly in a bad mood. I didn’t feel like to get up. I asked myself why, what caused me such down mood. And I realized I was being selfish and wasn’t having a good intent. hence not feeling fulfilled.
So I decided to change… It’s reaaally hard, not only changing the mindset and having good intent, but also facing the truth(that I was a deep Sh*t). 🙈🙈🙈I remember the transition took me more than a month. The process is like telling a heavy smoker quit smoking within a week. Asking a chronic alcoholic to stop drinking in 10 days.
But unexpected things started to happen after I started with good intention and sincerely want to help others. Not only people take a closer look of contents I created, but also are willing to communicate with me and let me know their true thoughts. So for me, running my online business and earn income is not what I focus on, it’s the control I can get back of my life and the fulfillment helping others brought me.
Seeing other succeed in gaining control back of their lives, they changed from long working hours, sacrificing time with their loved one…to being able to personally take kids to school and back home, enjoy the brunch which they made themselves with their partner…is what makes me happy. The very thing that makes me fulfilled and support me keep doing what I’m doing. 🔥🔥🔥
