“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” ― Albert Einstein
Recently I read some books regarding “changes”, wanting to find out if I want to make more progress, what should I do and how should I do. I’ll share the recommended book lists at the end of this, first let’s talk about changes—a crucial role played in your life.🔥
How do you feel when you enter an unfamiliar environment that needs you to change?
The environment could be a country. Buildings, roads, houses, etc. are all designed in the way that you’ve never seen before. People there has totally different culture with you. You use different languages, different gestures…And you are alone there. No friends, no family, no nothing.
How do you feel about the invisible force making your to change and adapt? Anxious, Angry, or Afraid?
This feeling is stronger when you change your job and enter another one. Boss that give you tight timeline to finish a project, colleague that is all about himself and not going to help you. All kinds of totally different ways to work that seems to push you to change.
Similar scenarios could go on and on, no matter what specific scenario you have in your mind now. Let’s simplify, it’s because you’re taken out of you comfort zone. When you’re taken out of comfort zone, your brain senses uncertainties. For your brain, uncertainties equal to dangers.
Ever had the moment where there’s a voice inside your brain telling you “Don’t do it.You’ll get killed out there. Get back and don’t change anything.”? That’s your brain. And it’s trying everything to talk you out of changes, e.g. you feel the fear, you feel the anxiety.
So what can we do to solve this problem? 🤔
Let’s do a quick exercise and find out what made you an awesome person at this point. Think back about your past experiences. Any experiences that you remember, happy experience, sad experience, fearful experience, etc. What are the experiences that changed you for the better the most?
……the experience that changed you from having no skills to having great skills.
……the experience that changed you from being afraid talking with people to being good at public speaking?
……the experience that changed you from being dependent to somebody to an independent individual (or even better, can take care of others!)
What are those experiences? Noticed anything? Most of the experiences that made you become a better person now are the times where you were NOT in the comfort zone. The zone that brought you anxiety, fear, and made you accept the changes. The changes that made you progress and became a better you, a greater human being.💪
Reading books about changes reminded me when I finally decided to pursue my goal–do the thing I love. Not just working for somebody else dream. I decided to learn everything I need to know to build my online business , which honestly took me two whole month to actually accept the changes.
I don’t know what took me so long to make the decision but I’m glad that I did. Because for me, being able to do the things I love, not just being a robot(taking orders and working for other’s dream goal) really set me free in a way that I’ve never ever felt before.
Change is all around us. Change is happening in us. It’s often said that Change is the only constant. Change closes old doors, but brings new opportunities.
We can resist it or embrace it. What would you choose?
Let me know your thoughts!
