Don’t listen to what others say to you? Not really.
I was chatting with my mom today. I was telling her what I’m doing recently including what’s my short term goal this two weeks, what’s my progress and what’s current challenges.
And there’s a big challenge for me on my way working towards my goal. I am affected by what others say to me and sometimes what others do to me. The current solution I’m utilizing is to listening to videos shot by other successful people. I listen to what they think about what others say to them and trying to shift my mindset.
Often the times we are told “Don’t listen to what others say to you.”, “You do you. Go all in to your goal.”, etc. Yea I agree because our values are not in someone else’s thoughts and words. But not 100 % true.
Why? Because there are judgement and feedback. They are both something people say to you. One is really valuable and the other is not. You don’t want to mix these together.
All quotes written above are not going to be really helpful in a long term (only work in short term) because I’ve be telling myself this for 3+ months.
And then this sentence took all my attention away. “Listen to others’ feedback, not their judgement.”
What we shouldn’t be listening to you or paying any attention to is others judgement. That’s harmful to you in terms of providing negative energy and environment to you. Gradually your confidence or unconscious thoughts are very likely to be affected in a bad way with respect of time.
What we should listen is others’ feedback. Others can see what we did from different point of views and so can provide various perspectives. Something that we’ve never thought before. Something that’s not there in our minds before even though we double checked and re-evaluated the results we want to present several times before we launched.
Key point being, feedback is one of the important things that keep us improving. We recognize our weakness or place that we can do better through others’ opinions and their feedback. If what others say is judgement. RUN! Don’t even waste your time paying tiny attention. You can do so many more productive things with the same amount of time.
With that said, let’s continue executing our small plans and working toward our goals =D Cheers!
